My fingers are happy and so am I

Because I use my tablet computer for writing documents and books, the tiny keypad on the tablet is inefficient. So I attached a keyboard to the tablet. Of the six different key boards I have used the apple keyboard pleases me way beyond the others. Why? It is smooth and comfortable to the touch. It has the feel of a real typewriter rather than a bunch of electronic switches that don’t easily bounce back. It is light weight. The keys are far enough apart so as to be comfortable for my hand. (One product which I had been using for several years was smaller and thus more portable but I had to crunch my hand so as to use it. No thank you. I did not need the portability. I needed the comfort and quality. Yes, this keyboard is more expensive than the others I had used (the least expensive was $27. And that keyboard would last only about eight months). But the extra money is worth it.

    Purchased in error!

I’m not very knowledgeable about electronics. I thought my keyboard was dead (0nly a month past the warranty.) My grandson came to help with setting up and asked Why didn’t you recharge it! He showed me the tiny buttons to move when on or off. I said I’ll just keep it in case … I ended up giving it to him because only had a mouse!

    Gets the work done

Purchased this keyboard because I found what I thought was an Apple keyboard not realizing Apple had different country keyboards and they are not all the same. I kept it anyways because of the price and works well. Battery life is not great in my opinion but it does include a charger. Wish this did not have to be charged to make this more efficient.

    Should have backlit…..

I’m finally trying the small Magic Keyboard after returning like 4 other ones i didn’t like & of course it works the best with my iPad Pro 12.9 but ridiculous it doesn’t even have a solid white color for the keyboard to be able to use a backlit…ALL apple keyboards should be backlit. Not just the damn $300 Magic Keyboard because i don’t even want that one for my iPad just to float.I’d return this if it hasn’t been the best one to use for my iPad but I’ve gone through enough keyboards trying to find the 1 lol.Only con about this is NO BACKLIT KEYBOARD

Bluetooth won’t work on older Macs

I was going to return it but I plugged it in to my computer using the cable from an iPhone and the keyboard actually worked. My iMac sees there is a “Magic Keyboard” but is not able to connect. Then I noticed the small print, it isn’t compatible with older versions. Newer versions “just need to be updated.” But when you work in audio, that is a great way to lose a ton of work, tools, and files. I liked the older version because I built an small angled shelf for the keyboard and the lip on the top back side held it in place. Not I have to add some type of hanger to hold it at an angle.

    A great tool

I have used Apple products for years and when I recently upgraded my old iMAC to the new Apple Studio, I decided to also upgrade my keyboard. I just love the touch ID feature saving the typing in of passwords.

A Little Too Small But Works Well With Long Battery Life

The Apple Magic Key Keyboard is solidly built with good “finger feel” on the keys, along with good weight and good battery life. But it’s a tad too small for average adult hands. As a result, I find myself making more typographical errors than in Apple’s full-size Magic Keyboard. But the small size of this unit is good for small tabletops or for carrying the keyboard in briefcases for mobile use. It would be nice if Apple produced a mid-size wireless keyboard with dimensions that were midway between the small and large versions of the Magic Keys keyboard to better accommodate adult hands… especially for those of us who use it for full-time desktop use with an Apple Studio computer. Maybe over time I’ll get used to the keyboard’s small size and be able to type more accurately with it.

Don’t like as well as the previous model

I purchased this to replace my old Apple keyboard, which was damaged in a flood. It feels pretty much the same as the old one. Even though being rechargeable ought to be a plus, I found that replacing batteries in the old one (I used rechargeable ones) was more convenient. I also hate the lock button, which is new. I’m frequently hitting it by accident. I did find a way to disable it, but not any way to re-assign it to a more useful function. Had I known all of this, I would probably have purchased the older (and cheaper) model.

    Excellent

I dropped one star for price. Overall this is a great keyboard- especially if you have smaller hands. My last one lasted years and only had to be replaced recently because the space key started acting up. Word to the wise – that key is almost impossible to get back on once removed and the delicate part underneath ended up breaking. -siiiigh-

    Works Well.

I bought this keyboard to replace the identical but 5 (?) year old one whose “W” key didn’t register all the time. These keyboards are small, light, and very easy to use. The batteries last a long time between charges.

NEVER use Bluetooth if you can possibly have a wired connection.

The upper right-hand corner has a *very annoying* “lock” key right above the delete key. Whenever you accidentally hit this key it immediately locks your computer requiring password input. This key is frustrating and interferes in my work. For now, the only option for turning it off is using third-party keyboard utilities.I buy a lot of Macs, the first thing we do is take the Bluetooth keyboard and mouse and throw it in the trash and replace it with a wired keyboard and mouse. Over the years, various computer standards have been invented and adopted. Bluetooth is by far the most difficult to use. Even when you buy top grade equipment like this, you’re still going to have struggles with connections and dropouts. During critical moments is when the internal battery will fail.I don’t like having the built-in battery. When it goes dead you may have to stop your work until you can charge it. In some situations, it may be possible to charge while using. I would much prefer to have the unit powered by lithium AA of AAA batteries. That way, when they go dead you can swap them out immediately. Also, after three or four years the NON-USER REPLACEABLE battery will no longer accept a charge and it’s likely the whole product will end up in the garbage and you’ll have to replace it.I had one application where I HAD to go wireless. We never could go beyond 3 or 4 feet using the built-in Bluetooth in a Mac mini. I was able to get acceptable results by using a USB extension cord and a separate Bluetooth dongle.Sadly, the ability for people to comment on a review has been taken away. I used to enjoy reading those comments, it helped me make my reviewing better and it allowed customers to help each other. Sometimes comments by the manufactures were also helpful.Product is made in China.

I love apple products but hate the price! This product is a 5 star though and it fits perfect for my home studio when the key board isn’t the main accessory. SLIM, SOLID, SLEEK!

Beware: Not a genuine apple product!

Is this the actual Apple store? None of the top keys work on this keyboard (volume, brightness, etc.), so I did some further investigation. In Bluetooth settings, it shows up as “CQA UI 11” followed by Chinese(?) characters. (See image.) Also, when it connects it, it shows an picture of the AA-cell powered Magic keyboard, not the rechargeable one. (See image.)I returned both this keyboard, and the Magic Trackpad I purchased at the same time, which I didn’t even bother opening, having lost total faith that this is the actual Apple store.Update: I have now received 3 fake keyboards (I have macs in various locations), all with the same 3 symptoms: 1. Keyboard system settings doesn’t recognize the keyboard and asks you to press the keys to the right/left of the left/right shift keys so it can tell what kind of keyboard it is. 2. The top row of function keys (brightness, dictation, search, etc.) don’t work at all, and 3. when the keyboard connects/disconnects, the screen shows a picture of the old AA battery magic keyboard instead of the new one. (It turns out you can’t tell from the serial number). I have a real keyboard at home that has none of these symptoms.

A few specialty keys irritate me!

I like the size. And overall, it works as expected…. BUT in the top right corner there is a key just above the delete key. If I miss the delete key, the screen “disappears” and asks for my password. Again??? Even brushing against that key sends it off to “password?” Very annoying. In the opposite bottom left corner there’s a key that, if one brushes against it, a little chart of emojis pops up, and demands attention. I asked computer support about the password thing, and was told to retrain my “delete” finger. I’ll keep the keyboard in case of emergency but I’m not recommending it.

  36. Tad Stapleton

    Solid Performer

Recommend. May not be the best but at this price point the keyboard is a flawless performer and is easily recognized by the computer. Some keyboards may have superior ergonomics but for ease of use, you can’t beat the Apple brand.

Poorly placed (and useless?) lock key

This keyboard has great feel, response, and connectivity. However, the upper right-hand corner has a *very annoying* “lock” key right above the delete key. Whenever you accidentally hit this key it immediately locks your computer requiring password input. Honestly, this key serves no purpose for me and is only a frustrating interference in my work. Hopefully Apply will offer a way to remap the key or turn it off in system settings. For now, the only option for turning it off is using third-party keyboard utilities.

    Do NOT Buy This Version!!

I needed a new wireless keyboard for my Apple laptop. I saw this and then the other version for $50 more that has the fingerprint ID pad as the top right hand key. I thought, “What a scam. Who needs that. For $50 I can simply reach the 18 inches it takes to use the fingerprint ID on my laptop.” Which is true enough–don’t miss having that capability on my wireless keyboard. What I did not appreciate until using this edition of the keyboard is that some spiteful designer at Apple decided to put a “Lock” key as the upper right hand key on the keyboard instead. Doesn’t seem like a big deal, right? Except that it’s right next to the “Delete” key–which means about 5 times a day, when typing quickly I accidentally hit the “Lock” instead of the “Delete” key and my entire system locks until I put in my finger print/password. I cannot tell you how annoying this and how infuriated it makes me. Terrible, terrible, terrible design, which I cannot help but believe is being done spitefully by Apple. Pony up the 50 bucks and get the other keyboard and save yourself the trouble. Ridiculous that the company Steve Jobs founded has come to this.

Very good for a simple keyboard. Good feedback from the keys. Better than my last Apple keyboard from 10 years ago. Battery life seems good with about 6 hours of typing 5 days a week I’ve charged it once since I got it a week ago. Charging takes less than an hour.

    It just works

It’s a solid keyboard. Not much to say other than that it just works, as Apple likes to say. It’s durable – I spilled a bunch of water on this keyboard and was freaking out for a minute, but after I flipped the thing over to let the water out and let gravity do its thing, the keyboard worked just as it always had.The function row commands such as screen brightness and volume/media controls work well on my iPad Pro. That was unexpected and has proven really handy actually. It’s a solid keyboard.

I had to purchase this Apple product

I have had two blue tooth apple keyboards and both have died or won’t connect anymore via blue tooth. so I decided to buy one with a an adapter so I don’t have to worry about it dying or battery life while working from home. I had bought a non apple foreign brand and it worked fine until I realized some of the keys did not have the same characters so short cuts were impossible or not doable so I had to return it and invest in an an apple brand. I am very happy with my purchase. it’s very quiet and compact and I no longer have to worry about blue tooth connection.

Sticky keys – Apple Support useless

Unfortunately there are a few sticky keys. Due to the way I bought it even though it was through Amazon, I don’t have the option of return/replace, instead I have to deal with Apple. Apple wanted the serial number which at 1st I couldn’t find on the keyboard, I found it on the box. Well it came up invalid (don’t know how it’s right in front of my face), they wanted a pic (well my iPhone 7 wouldn’t focus), finally took pic and used Air Drop just like they told me too. Ha!!! the file wouldn’t transfer to the chat (shows how much they know) so here, barely, I found it on the keyboard. It’s that tiny and blends right in, even with my glasses and a flashlight I couldn’t read it which why would you make it so small to begin with?Well issue didn’t get resolved because I was livid at the fact they needed a serial number, which was invalid, just for keys sticking, again, what’s up with that? Like the serial number is gonna tell them the keys are definitely sticking. Also, when I’m typing, Leetters are constantly being doubled (use letters as an example, been fixing the rest), I Googled the problem, did what was suggested and nothing changed. So in my eyes, not all Applee products are worth it (look at how Apple came out) and I really wish I could say what I want to on here about this but I guess I’m stuck with JUNK

    Amazing!

Absolutely, Loveeeee this keyboard.I have purchased a Jelly Comb dock/keyboard mouse bundle on amazon before and loved it very much as it has done me wonders and gave me a good typing experience. Although the mouse died out of no where so i was stuck with just the keyboard. I figured If I’m just gonna use a keyboard then I might as well use the apple one. I purchased this with Big expectations and was blew out of the water. The typing experience feels wonderful. I feel I can type fast and accurately, feeling every press of a key. Sleek, Beautiful and matches the Apple setup I have going on. I was worried at first it didn’t come in the amazon package but then was surprised by the size of it. It’s wonderful and works amazing. Locking the ipad is as easy as hitting the lock button on the keyboard and bam. Done. Love it! Recommend this for anyone using the Apple ecosystem.
